As fall approaches, Macon has no shortage of festivals, football games and events. Your only problem might be deciding which one you want to go to most. Here’s a list of five festive and fun things to do this weekend in Macon:

  1. Just Tap’d Oktoberfest

This Saturday from noon until 11:30 p.m. Just Tap’d downtown will be serving German-style grub in Oktoberfest garb. Polka music and the 15 Oktoberfest-themed beers on tap are sure to create a festive environment. Samples will be sold for $2 each. For more information visit justtapd.com.

2. Open Streets Macon Bicycle Parade

If you need to get somewhere around College Street this Sunday you may need to pack a helmet. Bike Walk Macon is hosting a neon-themed parade from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. for participants of all ages. The bike ride is one and a half miles long and starts at the intersection of Washington Avenue and College Street. This event is colorful and free. For more information visit openstreetsmacon.com.

3. UGA watch party at Bearfoot Tavern

Watch the Georgia Bulldogs face the Tennessee Volunteers at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday over some pimento bacon fritters and Bearfoot buffalo wings. Bearfoot Tavern invites UGA and UT fans alike to enjoy the game. For more information visit bearfoottavernmacon.com.

4. Mercer Opera: “The Trial of Goldilocks”

If you’re looking for something more kid-friendly to do this weekend, this show is sure to deliver the laughs and fun you need. Plus, it’s free for children and students. 5. “The Lion King Jr.” at Theatre Macon

Goldilocks may not be just right for your weekend, but maybe “The Lion King Jr.” is. This musical is also playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday and tickets start at $12. For more information visit theatremacon.com.

6. Four-course wine dinner at Edgar’s Bistro

For the couple looking for an intimate evening away from festivals and families, or the friend groups looking to celebrate the end of a hard week, this exclusive dinner spot may be exactly what you’re looking for.
