Five Fall Events to Look Out for in October

Temperatures are (slightly) cooler, the days are getting shorter and leaves are beginning to change colors – happy fall, y’all! The arrival of fall is a favorite time of many, as it means corn fields, pumpkin patches and treasured holidays like Halloween. To get into the autumn spirit, here are five fall events in Macon and Middle Georgia to add to your calendars.

Macon Octoberfest – Saturday, October 21

The fourth Annual Macon Octoberfest will be held in downtown Macon on Oct. 21. Besides having locally-sourced craft beers, the festival will showcase regional art, musical performances and vendors. Advanced tickets can be purchased for $5 or $10 at the event, and children 17 and under are free. Visitors 21 and over who wish to drink must show proof of ID.

2) Georgia National Fair – October 5 – 15th

A favorite for all ages, the Georgia National Fair returns to the Perry Fairgrounds for 10 days, beginning Thursday, Oct. 5. Carnival-style rides, fair food, vendors, concerts, agriculture booths and a variety of displays are just some of the things available for visitors to enjoy. Admission prices are dependent on age and what daily specials are happening that day, so be sure to visit their site for more information.

3) Central Georgia Greek Festival – October 13 – 15

Located on First Street in downtown Macon, the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church will be holding the Central Georgia Greek Festival the weekend of Oct. 13. Visitors to the festival will be able to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine, live music and dancing, art, and shopping opportunities. Admission is free for all ages, and a full festival schedule can be found here.

4) Deep Roots Festival – October 21

The 2017 Deep Roots Festival will be held in downtown Milledgeville on Saturday, Oct. 21. Deep Roots hosts a variety of musical and cultural activities, from live bands, artist displays, car shows, a barbeque competition and even a Kids Zone. An all-day pass is required to attend the festival. Advanced tickets go on sale Oct. 2 in downtown Milledgeville, but day-of prices are $8 or $15 after 5pm. For more details click here.

5) Fall Family Saturdays and Sundays at Rock Ranch – Every weekend in October

The Rock Ranch in Barnesville is offering Family Fall events every Saturday and select Sundays during the entire month. Rock Ranch has numerous attractions for people of all ages to enjoy, including a corn maze, hay rides, petting zoo, and themed events for each weekend. Tickets are $13 a person.
