Holiday Concerts You Can Put On Your Calendar

One of the best parts of the holidays is the music that comes along with it. Celebrate Christmas in Macon this year by attending some of the many Christmas concerts that will be taking place in December.

 

Dec. 3 – Wesleyan’s Christmas Concert

Wesleyan College will be holding their annual Christmas concert in Porter Auditorium on Wesleyan’s campus at 4 p.m. The concert will feature their Concert Choir, the Wesleyannes and Christmas Carol sing-a-longs. This event is free, and for more information, you can check out their Facebook page.

Dec. 9 – Holiday Jam

The Jazz Association of Macon is holding their annual Holiday Jam at the Blues Barn from 7-11 p.m. Barry Darnell and his band will be performing at the outdoor concert. The attire is casual, and it is encouraged that you bring lawn chairs and an appetizer to share. Tickets are $25 at the door. For more information, you can visit the event’s Facebook page.

Dec. 9-10 – Handel’s Messiah

The Choral Society of Middle Georgia and Mercer University Choir will be presenting Handel’s Messiah at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. on both nights and tickets are $10 per person. You can order tickets online at the Choral Society’s website.

Dec. 15 – Christmas with Pianist R. Cornelius Spencer and Friends

Spencer will be performing with other Georgia artists at the Douglass Theatre at 7:30 p.m. They will be playing classic Christmas songs along with holiday favorites. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased on the theatre’s website.

Dec. 22 – John Berry’s Christmas Concert

John Berry will be returning to the Grand Opera House for the nineteenth year of his holiday concert. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $35.50. Tickets tend to sell quickly, so purchase them online early on The Grand’s website.
